# ScrapingBee ChatGPT API

> Ask a GPT model through ScrapingBee, optionally with web-enhanced search.

## Endpoint and authentication

- Endpoint: `https://app.scrapingbee.com/api/v1/chatgpt`
- Required input: `prompt`.
- Authentication: `Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY`.
- The `api_key` query parameter remains supported for backward compatibility but is deprecated for new integrations.
- Cost: 15 credits per successful request.

## Parameters and response

- `search=false` by default; set `search=true` for web-enhanced answers. It is not a replacement for the required `prompt`.
- `add_html=false` by default; set `true` to include `full_html`.
- `country_code` accepts an ISO country code and affects the web results used to formulate an answer when `search=true`.
- `tag` is a response-header label and does not change model behavior.
- The response contains `llm_model`, `prompt`, `results_markdown`, `results_text`, `results_json`, and optional `full_html`.
- Failed requests are retried by ScrapingBee for up to 30 seconds. Account for that server-side retry window in client timeouts.
- Citations are not guaranteed and depend on the prompt. When returned, they appear at the end of `results_markdown`; in `full_html`, they are under elements with `data-testid="webpage-citation-pill"`.
- Use a specific prompt, relevant context, and explicit output expectations for more reliable results.
